Beyond Coursework
MA/PhD candidates participate in many areas of the Department of Theatre Arts and Dance beyond their required coursework. Most students take on funded TA positions to prepare for teaching opportunities in their careers. Others direct and dramaturg productions related to their graduate research in our Mainstage and Xperimental Theatre seasons. Students also actively participate with the wide range of guest artists that are invited for visits and residencies. A year-long lecture series and week-long residencies feature eminent scholars and practitioners. Invited guests have included Herbert Blau, Rosemarie Bank, Jean Graham-Jones, Diana Taylor, Alice Rayner, Spencer Golub, Fred Moten, Jorge Huerta, David Milroy, Jill Dolan, Peggy Phelan, Sue-Ellen Case, Harry Elam, and Tim Miller among others.
